Bishop Robert Barron Celebrates Mass at St. Joseph’s in Ojai

“Friends, today we celebrate the Solemnity of St. Joseph, protector of home and family, and what could be more fitting than to celebrate this great feast at St Joseph’s Health and Retirement Center. Tucked in the beautiful hills in Ojai, CA, the Brothers of St. John of God have been caring for the elderly for nearly sixty years. What a blessing to have these wonderful caring men serving in my region! St. Joseph and St. John of God, pray for us.”

In his homily, Bishop Barron spoke of St. Joseph as a man of trust and faith in God. He responded to the challenges God placed before him in faith. He used two dynamic terms to illustrate his insight into the responsiveness of St. Joseph. He mentioned that life is a drama. This drama can be viewed from two perspectives. The first he portrayed it as “ego-drama”, a self-centeredness approach to life. In contrast, he mentioned a “theo-drama”, an awareness of God working in my life and placing my trust and hope in him. The life of St. Joseph illustrates the notion of “Theo Drama” one who trust in faith the unfolding of God’s plan.

There was a lovely luncheon on the Patio that followed the Mass. Stephen Gaucin, Administrator, introduced the co-workers of St. Joseph’s who worked diligently every day and to make this day happen. It was a blessed day for all present.
